This week Eileen is hosting a meme of bloggers in their nice dresses when they were little. It seems I usually didn't have a new spring dress for Easter like Eileen did. The time for a new dress was end of May, when school ended. - I do remember having had a soft yellow hand knitted wool outfit with a jumper and what you would nowadays call leggings but we called damasks. A cap and mittens may have belonged to the set as well. I remember my mother saying I looked like an Easter chicken, and it made me feel good.
This picture is of me around that same age, maybe five years old. It was taken at a real photographer's studio, and my mother and my three sisters and two brothers are all in it too. I remember the dress I'm wearing, it was light blue and white, knitted by my grandmother I think.
As you see, I was not flashing smiles even then!
If you go to Eileen's blog, you'll find links to other girls playing this game with us, and you can join in, too!
Cute! I never smiled in photos either.
ReplyDeleteHow cute. It reminds me of my kindergarten picture face...none of the little ones had a smile!
ReplyDeleteI love the big bow in your hair!
I love the big bow and the sweet knitted dress!
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Dionne
Cute picture of you!!
ReplyDeleteMost of my pictures is still home with my mother..
You had the sweetest face, and I love the bow too. What a lovely knitted dress.. with pleats! And little rows of white flowers knitted in. So beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThanks for playing along!
You are so sweet! It is funny how sometimes we didn't want to smile. I would love to go back in time and watch as an adult what happened!
ReplyDeleteHia Ulla- I have a face for you now LOL Beautiful eyes. What great knitting. I find it hard to get the tension exact when knitting in many colours. I think your family are very talented.
ReplyDeleteI would join in too, but as I explained to Eileen, if a camera came out I was busy running away. :-) I couldn't stand still and pose when there were things to see.
Adorable you were even without the smile. I remember only getting new clothes certain times of the year and a new dress in the spring was one.
ReplyDeleteWhat a darling girl you were, Ulla! I love the big bow! I'm remembering how fun it was to shop for our Easter outfits!
ReplyDeleteCheers!
What a darling girl you were...and still are!! These Easter dresses have been fun!
