Vintage Thingies 29 - Teacup Finale

VTT time again, and time to show the last two teacups from the set my mother gave me when she sent me to the big world on my own. These cups were also painted by Great Aunt Saima, like the rose and Pierrot story from last week.

The Fuchsia cup is from 1930, painted for her big sister, my grandmother.

Her initials SS on the bottom of the cup.

The other cup was for my grandfather. A more masculine pattern and colouring, don't you think?

This cup is from 1929.

I like the symmetry of the decoration, and the thin gold lines.

This was all for this week from me. Let's go and see what others have linked to Suzanne's blog.
The list is long!

  6. Once again, your Great Aunt Saima wows us with her work! These are both so beautiful...you can sense a tiny hint of Japanese influence interpreted in her own special way. The gold detail work is magnificent!

  7. Beautiful. I loving the grandfather cup because of the little dots and greenish color.

  8. Both are lovely and so special since they were painted by one of your forebears and then passed down to you.

  10. Ulla, these are beautiful works of art and it was so nice of your Great Aunt Saima to, not only date the cups, but also to indicate that the more masculine one was for Heikki. Now everyone will forever know that it was a truly special cup and saucer for a special person. Such amazing talent she had.
